Crocodile Severs Vet's Arm; Limb Reattached

mn_croc_attack_xtpe801.jpg

The photo says it all; the croc was unharmed in the retrieval of the veterinarian's arm, and is now totally bragging around the pond about bagging a vet. This pic in the Gate story made me think the vet is waving with the reattached arm (attached, not holding it and waving it with the other hand like in a horror movie), but a reader who knows their right from left in detached limbs corrected my read of their text and notes that the croc photo is of a severed *left* arm. (thanks, Alex!) Still, I'd love to see a pic of the reattachment. But, I'm like that. Snip from SFGate (image via):

A zoo worker had his forearm reattached Thursday after his colleagues recovered the severed limb from the mouth of a 440-pound Nile crocodile, an official said.

The crocodile severed Chang Po-yu's forearm on Wednesday at the Shaoshan Zoo in the southern city of Kaohsiung when the veterinarian tried to retrieve a tranquilizer dart from the reptile's hide, zoo officials said.

The Liberty Times newspaper said Chang failed to notice the crocodile was not fully anesthetized when he stuck his arm through an iron rail to medicate it.
