A Visit to the Computer History Museum

My friend Jennifer Granick recently went to the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California and took a lot of really great photos, all in this excellent Flickr photo set, which is a decent substitute for actually going there and taking the tour in person. I mean, why go look at computers in real life when you can look at them on the computer? Dig Google's first production unit, "This contains 80 disk drives, each with its own Pentium chip. It takes 33,000 of these to hold Google's data, and they triplicate it. This device was retired in 1999."

Pictured: Weapons station.

SRL needs a weapon station, imagine what Mr. Satin could do with that!

You might also enjoy a flickr show of Museum of Communications just south of downtown Seattle.
