Perhaps the cutest cops in the world are being used to “zero in acutely on the smell of polycarbonate,” according to Adult Video News. The specially-trained black labrador retrievers helped cops locate “thousands” of counterfeit DVDs in Queens, NY, including the likes of The Simpsons Movie, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Rush Hour 3. (Oh, thank God, Chris Tucker can eat tonight).
The dogs are fresh from a six-month tour of duty in Malaysia, where they helped nail a bunch of Malaysian pirates. AVN quoted Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) chairman Dan Glickman as saying that the dogs had had a bounty of $30,000 placed on their heads by “a Malaysian pirate syndicate.” (Each, or together… I’m not so sure how things like that work). The MPAA claims that 43% of the illegal video recording of movies in the US happens in NYC.
