More Camera Lust: The Olympus Stylus 770 SW

A little while back I blogged about the soon-to-be-released Sanyo Xacti Waterproof video camera, and amazingly, I found myself in a situation where I got to borrow and test one out. I made this video in the process; I also had the camera’s menu button fail after the first day (and it’s not great for stills) so I’m way less impressed than when I first spotted it on Gizmodo. Someone commented that they were trying to decide between the Xacti and the Olympus 770 — and one look at the 770 (image via) and I’m head over heels in lust, love and any other type of destructive affection I could throw at what looks like an *incredible* camera — it’s shockproof, waterproof, crushproof and freezeproof and 7.1mp. Check it out frozen into a block of ice. Now, I just need to “borrow” one of these…

  1. Holy crap. That link prices it at $380 — I paid $400 for my last camera, and it sure is nothing like this! Plus all those -proofs, sounds like it’s time for a new camera. WOW.

  2. I saw your post on the SANYO waterproof. It was a nice video and made me buy the camera. I love the SANYO waterproof camcorder. Your description of the menu failure and water inside the camera was likely caused from a “user error” (sorry). I believe, having now used the camera that you didn’t get the battery door fully shut. I’ve had no problem with it and have taken it in the pool and ocean repeatedly. Anyway, thanks for your review of the SANYO waterproof camcorder. I LOVE IT!!!
